The Government wants GP's to have "extended hours"

This is highly likely to be imposed through the GP contract and we have no choice. There are 2 options

1. money is taken out of the existing contract, from which reception and nursing staff are paid and given back when we work extended hours.
2. money is taken from the existing contract, given to the Primary Care Trust to decide how it uses the money to provide patient care .

Both ways the practice loses out.We need your opinion:
